Summary |
The Davidson family founded Day’s Jewelers in 1914. Captain Harry Davidson started the business as a pawnshop and auction center in Portland, Maine. Soon, his three sons joined in the family business and helped expanded the store to 21 locations throughout New England. By 1988, the remaining sons operating the chain retired and sold the business. The Davidson family was among the prominent members of the Jewish community and business community. |

Consists of a number of family photographs. Also included in the collection are photos of Day’s Jewelers employees and a periodical about the store. There are two DVD disc of the Day’s Inc grand opening in 1954, and a David D. Davidson interview is included as well. The collection also contains theater programs written by David D. Davidson from 1929-1930. Two children’s books written by Patricia Davidson Reef, daughter of David D., and a Day’s 1975 catalog are included as well.
