NETTIE SHAPIRO -- OBITUARY

Nettie Shapiro, 84, widow of Samuel Shapiro of 302 French St., a former Rockland resident for many years, died unexpectedly Jan. 19, 1980 at a local hospital. She was born in Minkotvitch, Russia, Dec 3 1895, the daughter of Lazar and Hiyee Schneider. She was a member of the congregation Beth Abraham, a lifetime member of the Sisterhood of Beth Abraham, member of Bangor Chapter of the Hadassah, Jewish Community Center, the senior citizens friendship club, and the Women American ORT, all of Bangor. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ida Gopan of Bangor, Mrs. James Esther Jordon of Silver Springs, Md., and Mrs. Elizabeth Gopan of Bangor; three sons Benjamin Shapiro of Madawaska, Malcom and Merideth Shapiro, both of Presque Isle; 15 grandchildren; 8 grand-grandchildren, niece and nephew. Funeral Services were held Sunday at the Jewish Funeral Chapel Center Street, with Rabbi Henry Isaacs officiating Interment was in the Tefereth Israel Cemetery, Bangor. Memorial Week will be observed at her residence, 302 French St., Bangor. Arrangements by Brookings- Smith, Bangor.
