Bangor—Samuel Less, 87, died Sept. 7, 1987 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Russia, April 29, 1900, the son of Jacob and Bessie Less. Mr. Less was the owner and operator of the Independent Hide Co. of Pittsfield for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Congregation Beth Abraham and the Chevra Kodisha Committee of the Congregation, the B.P.P. Elks. Lodge No. 244, and the Jewish Community Center, all in Bangor. Surviving are his wife, Ida (Chesner) Less, two daughters, and a son-in-law. Anna and Irving Silverberg and Beatrice Kaskin, all of Bangor: a son and daughter-in-law. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1987 at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, Center Street, Bangor, with Rabbi Henry Isaacs officiating. Internment will be in Beth Abraham Cemetary. Memorial week will be observed at the family home, 58 Penobscot St., Bangor.
