The death of Samuel Schneider, 58, Bangor businessman for a number of years, occurred at the residence, 217 Center Street, Thursday morning following a long illness. Born in Russia, Mr. Schneider moved to the United States in 1920, living in the New York city area for about 10 years, and moving to Bangor about 33 years ago. He was engaged in the retail meat business, and in recent years had owned and operated Sklar’s Kosher Meats and Delicatessen store, 117 State Street. Surviving are his wife, Molly; two sons, Martin and Stanley, both of Bangor; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Wise of Lewiston; two brothers, Harry and William Schneider, and a sister, Mrs. Mae Lashinski, all of New York City; and five grandchildren. Mr. Schneider was a member of B’nai B’rith, the Zionist organizations, and Beth Abraham and Beth Israel Synagogues. Funeral services will be held at the Jewish Chapel, Center Street, this morning at 10:30 o’clock. | |
