Abraham L. Berg, 75, of 156 Maple Street, Bangor, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon. Born in Russia on May 25, 1894, he was the son of Hyman and Dora Berg. Mr. Berg was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Bangor Post 507, Jewish War Veterans, the American Legion, the B’nai B’rith, the Jewish Community Council, the Zionist Organization of America, and the Beth Abraham Synagogue. He was the founder and former owner of the Family Shoe Store in Bangor. He retired in 1964. He is survived by his wife. Mrs. Lena (Siegel) Berg of Bangor, one son, Dr. Howard Berg of Bangor; one daughter, Mrs. Morris Bassman of Des Moines, Iowa; two brothers, Arthur Berg and Clarence Berg, both of Bangor; one sister, Mrs. James Segol of Medford, Mass.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. | |
