PORTLAND -- Edward Shible, 89, of Portland, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2013, in Pompano Beach, Fla., with family members by his side. He was born in Portland on Sept. 30, 1923, to Joseph and Jennie (Weinstein) Shible. Edward worked at Day's Jewelry for over 50 years and he and his wife Charlotte owned The Young Set in York Beach and Kennebunkport for 30 years. After retiring, Ed enjoyed wintering in Pompano Beach, Fla. Ed was a hard worker, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife and family. His parents; brother Gerald, and sister Lillian (Shible) Allinson predeceased him. Edward is survived by Charlotte, his loving and dedicated wife of 65 years; his daughter Linda and son- in-law Chuck Crumrine, his daughter Karen and son-in-law Stephen Bittner; his four grandchildren, Justin, Michael, Zachary and Alyson, who all cherished him; his brother Maxwell and sister-in-law Nanette Shible; three nephews and four nieces. He will be greatly missed by family members and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19, at 12 p.m., at the Levey Chapel, 471 Deering Ave., with Rabbi Carolyn Braun officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Hicks Street, Portland. Shiva will be observed at the home of Charlotte Shible, 410 Baxter Blvd., Portland on Saturday, April 20, at 8 p.m., on Sunday, April 21, and on Monday, April 22, at 7 p.m. Arrangements by the Jewish Funeral Home. | |
