WATERVILLE and BANGOR -- George Chesner, 85, of Waterville, died Dec. 26, 1993, at a Waterville hospital. He was born in Russia, Dec. 8, 1908, the son of Louis and Pearly (Weinstein) Chesner. He was the owner and operator of the Silver Street Meat Market in Waterville from 1938 to 1968. George was a member of the board of the Beth Israel Congregation of Waterville and a member of the Beth Abraham Synagogue at Bangor. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Sophie (Cohen) Chesner of Waterville; are one son, Louis E. Chesner of LaJolla, Calif.; two daughters, Jane Tobias of Newton, Mass. and Joan Gavish of Jerusalem, Israel; four grandchildren; one sister, Molly Stein of Lewiston; several nieces and nephews.
