Michael Abromsonís naming to the board of a Catholic hospital illustrates the involvement of local Jews in the broader community in the post-World War II era. A co-owner of the Food Town supermarket chain, he was not only a director of Beth Jacob Synagogue and the Jewish Community Center but served on the United Way board and as co-chairman for businesses of the Joint Hospital Fund Campaign before being named to the St. Maryís board.
