BERNARD STRIAR -- OBITUARY

 
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. and MIAMI BEACH, FLA. – Bernard Striar, 76, died Feb. 20, 1990, in Miami Beach, Fla. He was born July 22, 1913, in Gloucester, Mass., the son of James and Sarah Striar of Bangor. He was president of Eastland Woolen Mills Corp. of Corinna and New York City. A philanthropist, Mr. Striar was dedicated to the U.J.A., a founder of Yeshiva University, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Albert Einstein School of Medicine, a fellow of Brandeis University, and chairman of Israeli Bond Drives. He is survived by his dearly devoted wife, Carol (Finkelhoffe) Striar; four children, Allen and Joyce Striar of New Rochelle, N.Y., Patricia (Striar) Rohner of Georgetown, Mass., Robin and Neil Rolnick of Miami, Fla., and David and Laurel Striar of Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren; one brother, Max Striar of Bangor; two sisters, Mildred Kominsky of Bangor and Sylvia Menaker of Baltimore, Md. Mr. Striar was a respected and active member of the Jewish Community of Essex County in New Jersey and Beth El Congregation of South Orange, N.J.
