Berman's Clothing and Furniture Store

1940's -

Note: Berman Store, Eastport. My grandfather, Samuel D. Berman, established this business in 1914. He immigrated to New York from Lithuania in 1900 and by 1908 was living in Bangor and making his living as a peddler. Bermans carried clothing and footwear for the entire family as well as millinery. During the 1930's Quoddy project, furniture was added to the inventory and sold on the second floor. The store remained a family business until it closed in 1974.
