WILLIAM SHAPIRO of Newport -- OBITUARY

 
William Shapiro, 73, died Sunday morning at a Togus hospital. He was born in Austria August 19, 1891, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Shapiro. Mr. Shapiro was a veteran of World War I and was past commander of the Newport American Legion Post, and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was in business for himself in Newport prior to his retirement. Surviving are two sons, Sydney F. Shapiro of Marblehead, Mass., and Howard L. Shapiro of Newport; one brother, Louis Shapiro of Newark, N.J., two grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
